Our Teaching Method

At I think Italian, our approach is built around the centrality of the learner and the value of real, meaningful communication. Because every student brings unique goals, experiences, and learning styles, we design our online courses to be dynamic, interactive, and highly personalized—while still offering the structure and support of a group setting.

Our method draws on an integrated approach that combines current language-teaching techniques with practical communication strategies. This allows us to meet each student's real linguistic needs and tailor learning paths, even within a virtual classroom.

We view the Italian language not just as a system of rules, but as a living tool for connecting with people, understanding culture, and expressing oneself authentically. For this reason, our classes include a variety of activities based on real-life situations, authentic materials, and opportunities for interaction with native speakers.

While communication is at the center of our method, we also give great importance to mastering grammar, pronunciation, syntax, and vocabulary. Our aim is to offer students all the tools they need to navigate Italian confidently and to deepen their understanding of Italian culture.

Levels of Instruction

We offer six online Italian language levels aligned with the CEFR framework: A1, A2, B1, B2, C1, and C2.

A1 – Elementary

Learn to interact in everyday situations: introducing yourself, asking for information, shopping, ordering at a café or restaurant, and managing basic conversations.

A2 – Pre-Intermediate

Strengthen foundational skills and gain confidence talking about familiar topics. Students begin expressing personal experiences and simple narratives.

B1 – Intermediate

Consolidate vocabulary, grammar, and communication strategies. Students learn to handle more complex interactions and produce connected, coherent speech.

B2 – Upper-Intermediate

Expand linguistic range and improve fluency. Students comfortably discuss a variety of topics and understand more nuanced conversations.

C1 – Proficiency

Develop the ability to understand demanding texts, express ideas clearly and effortlessly, and adapt language to different contexts.

C2 – Mastery

Achieve full command of Italian. Students can understand virtually everything, express themselves with precision and subtlety, and manage complex communicative tasks with ease.
